A Light In the Darkness

My father was dying of cancer. He never "bought" faith or belief in God. Several months before his death, his youngest brother visited us at our home in Houston from his home in Indiana. Just before my uncle left my father's bedroom prior to his departure, I heard my uncle say "Charlie, if you don't believe in Jesus Christ, you're going straight to hell! I winced, as this approach seemed awfully harsh.
Later, when my father was in a coma in the hospital, I gently whispered in his ear and suggested that, if he has an opportunity to give his life to Jesus, he should.
Three days after my father's death in December, I awoke in the morning in an empty, darkened house. I had been very depleted after my father's death, as it had been a long journey for us all. As I awoke, a feeling of utter joy overwhelmed me. I jumped to my feet, suddenly hypervigilent as well as joyful, and I saw a swirling vortex of light about 10 ft. in front of me. I glanced at the clock; it was 8:30 a.m. As I moved toward the light, it retreated, keeping about equidistant. I followed it down the darkened hallway after the light, and after a period of about 15 minutes, it suddenly disappeared. The phone rang; it was my uncle in Indiana. He said, "Did you see the light? From 8:30 to 8:45?"
