On July 3rd, 2011 my husband had a massive stroke and was care flighted to a hospital 300 miles away. My daughter drove me in our car to be with him. He had a blood clot the size of a golf ball on his brain. The doctor removed it and he was put on all kinds of support tubes. I stayed with him my every waking moment. I was able to stay with my grandson who lived a half hour drive from the hospital.
After three facilities in this town, I was able to bring him to the nursing home in our home town. He went to therapy there. I came everyday to be with him. Finally on November 21, 2011, I was able to bring him home. My son had fixed everything for my husband to be able to be helped, a ramp into our home so I could wheel the chair, a shower I could take him in, a pole by the toilet and by the bed. I alone have cared for him and we have grown so close to the Lord and to each other. It has been a year now and he is still paralyzed on the left side and he cannot see out of the left side of both eyes. But, he is improving little by little with the help of our Lord and Savior.
I have to move him from chair to toilet, and back, chair to bed and back, chair to recliner and back, etc. He cannot do anything by himself. I keep a phone by him at all times. He had learned to read and we have devotions everynight. He looks much better and he does talk. He has a great sense of humor and is very polite when he asks me to help him to the bathroom or any other request.
The greatest thing that has come from this stoke is that our love is real as the Bible talks about. Husband love you wive and wive submit to your husband. Life is hard, but God is good!
